THE BLUE CRUISE & TURKEY

Holiday Yachts offers good sailing and majestic coastal scenery, linking pine forested bays and islands. The places one visits here are so astonishingly beautiful that he feels his eye sight insufficient to appreciateall.

The Blue Cruise is a magnificent voyage in which one witnesses the breathing Anatolian civilizations of millenium emerging out of the enchanting blue waters of the Mediterranean. The outstanding monuments of Lycia would welcome you upon your visit the fabulous bays.

The history, the sun and the sea have altogether carved out a wonderful beauty that you may consider it a genuine loss not to live through such an experience and feel the unique azure sea.

What's a Gulet or Goulette

The boats used for the Blue Cruise are wooden boats, traditionaly they are hand made by master craftsmen from Fethiye , Bodrum and Marmaris area of Turkey.

This classic Gulet was once used by fisherman and sponge divers to transport their catch. They are now purpose-built for the charter market with fittings and equipment designed for guests' comfort, all of which come under the collective description of wooden Gulet.

Gulet is typically built of pine wood and styled with a pointed fore and round aft. The major difference between the Turkish and western boats is that the Turkish boats are designed to allow passengers more space on the deck. An aft deck for dining and lounging in the shade of a sun awning and a forward deck with numerous sunbeds. Large living areas, spacious cabins, WC, shower and a sun deck furnished lounge area are typical in Gulettes.

Most have double cabins with en-suite facilities. On deck there are sun lounges for sunbathing and relaxing as well as dining areas under sun awnings. Gulets range in size, accommodating from 4-22 people. It is possible to book a cabin only joining other guests or you may charter the whole gulet. The crew, a captain, cook and 1 or 2 deckhands are very experienced at handling the boat and catering to all your needs.

All yachts have a tender with either oars or an outboard engine. Those yachts that offer optional water-skiing have a powerful out- board engine, while the outboards of others are designed purely for getting to shore and back

All yachts are equipped for safety, have a VHF radio, a stereo cassette player and a selection of cassettes. Many of the newer vessels have a cellular telephone, a TV, a video player and a CD or DVD player.

They might not all be experienced to sail, but when the wind gets strong enough they will, if the clients insist.

If snorkeling is one of your favorite pastimes, we suggest you pack your own set of gear, then you won’t need to adjust the mask size every time you wish to explore the depths.

LIFEONBOARD

On Holiday Yachts you could  lounge on the deck feeling the sun, sipping your favorite drink; read your favorite novel or explore the turquoise deep with your snorkel. Deck ladders down to the sea and deck showers to get the salt off come in really handy. Water sport equipment are also available for rent at most beaches. Land trips to plenty of ancient ruins to visit are extras. You can even fish for your supper and your cook will gladly prepare for you. Mealtimes are another form of entertainment on Holiday Yachts with all that exquisite Turkish cuisine and wonderful conversation. Having a meal under the stars on a serene sea, gently touching the sides of the boat is an experience not to be missed. For those who prefer a different view each day and are prepared for the changing moods of Mother Nature, a holiday on a gullet-Holiday Yacht  is the perfect solution.

WHAT TO BRING

You need casual wear only; non slip foot wear, swimming suit, a sun hat, some t-shirts and shorts, a sweater for cool evenings and for excursions and climbs, blue jeans and strong footwear. Instead of one large suitcase, we recommend that you take two small soft bags as they are more convenient to store in your cabin.Don't forget your bath towels & personal sanitary. For the gentlemen who don't want to grow a holiday beard, a battery operated razor and shaving soap. Please be forewarned that electrical appliances may only be connected while the yacht is tied up to land.

YOUR CREW

Crew usually consists of a captain, cook and seaman/mechanic and on the larger gullet a fourth crew member will be at your service. They are very friendly providing a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time extremely professional familiar with the coastal waters and the gullets inside out. The crew members are usually source of information on the local history and surroundings, being able to advise the best places to snorkel and anchor etc. Also you can get some super tips from the cook on local cuisine. Of course they are generally water sport lovers and good divers.
